Jura machines communicate clearly through their displays. Many issues begin with a message that won't go away — here is what those messages usually mean and what we do about them.
“Fill system” appears even with a full tank
This message shows when the machine can't draw water into the system. Common causes are an airlock after changing a filter, a sticking tank valve or a failing pump, and we work through them in that order. Removing and refitting the water tank firmly, then following the on-screen prompt, clears the simplest cases.
“Empty grounds container” won't clear
If the message stays after emptying, the machine may not be detecting the container or drip tray properly, or the grounds counter has not reset. We check the contacts and sensors before anything else. Leave the machine switched on while you empty it, and wait a few seconds before sliding it back.
Grinder loud but coffee weak
A noisy grinder with weak coffee often points to a foreign object in the burrs or worn grinding discs. We open the grinder, remove debris and assess burr wear. Beans with sugary coatings or flavourings stick to the grinding discs and are best avoided.
Milk system blocked or foam poor
Jura milk systems clog quickly if the cleaning cycle is skipped. We dismantle the milk spout and pipe, clean them thoroughly and replace worn parts. If you use milk every day, run the dedicated milk system cleaning with Jura milk cleaner daily.
Coffee dripping instead of flowing
A slow drip from the spout suggests a blocked brewing unit, scale in the water path or a grind set too fine. We clean and service the brewing unit and clear the flow path. Coarsening the grind by one step while the grinder runs is a safe first check.
Water leaking inside the machine
Water under or inside a Jura often comes from brewing unit seals or a drainage valve. We locate the leak, replace the seal and dry the interior before testing. Check the drip tray is fully inserted first, as it collects the rinse water from start-up and shutdown.
Cleaning cycle stops part-way
If the cleaning programme halts, a tablet may have been added at the wrong moment or a valve may be blocked. We run the programme under supervision and clear any restriction. Empty the drip tray and grounds container before starting, since the programme pauses when they fill.
Machine won't heat up
Failure to reach temperature can be scale in the thermoblock, a failed heater or a sensor fault. We measure each component before replacing anything. Heating faults often show a display message, so note the exact wording before calling.
Filter message keeps returning
When the CLARIS filter reminder appears too often, the filter setting in the menu may not match the fitted filter. We check the filter, reset the setting and confirm the counter behaves. While a CLARIS filter is registered and active, the machine won't normally ask for descaling at all.
Office GIGA or WE machine errors under heavy use
Busy office machines wear grinders, brewing units and valves faster. We service these parts and set up a preventive maintenance routine to keep downtime low. We can suggest a service interval based on how many drinks the office makes each day.
