Sage names its machines with “the”, and the model is usually printed on the front panel. The full reference, such as SES875, is on the rating label under the machine — useful when we need to order the exact part.
Sage machines pack a lot of automation into a small body — auto milk texturing, assisted tamping, fast-heating ThermoJet systems. That is also where many of the faults we see on Sage models start.
The Bambino Plus textures milk automatically using a temperature sensor on the jug platform. When milk stays cold or the wand stops early, the sensor contact is dirty or the wand is partly blocked, and we clean or replace whichever is at fault.
The Impress adjusts the dose using its assisted tamping lever. If it keeps asking for more or less coffee, we check the grinder calibration, the lever mechanism and burr wear before resetting the dose.
Espresso that pours in a few seconds or barely drips is usually grind size, dose or a worn shower screen rather than a broken machine. We dial the machine in with your beans and replace worn parts if the pour stays uneven. Using beans roasted in the last month or so makes dialling in much easier.
The Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino models use a ThermoJet heater that reaches temperature in seconds when healthy. Slow heat-up or a machine that switches off during use points to scale, a sensor or the heater itself, which we test separately. Letting the machine finish its heat-up before pulling a shot avoids lukewarm first cups.
A puddle is often just an overflowing drip tray, but it can also be a leaking tank valve or a split internal hose. We trace the water to its source and pressure-test after the repair.
A constant drip from the hot water spout usually means scale is stopping the valve from closing. Descaling often cures it; if not, we replace the valve.
A stone, a bean fragment or a build-up of oily fines can lock the burrs. We clear and clean the burr set and check that the motor hasn't been strained. Unplug before reaching into the hopper, and never adjust the grind while the burrs are jammed.
When the wand spits water before steaming, the heater hasn't reached steam temperature or scale is disrupting it. We check heating and clear the wand and its internal line.
A dead machine can be a blown fuse, a faulty power switch or a control board problem. We test the supply and switch first, since those are the cheapest fixes.
If the Dual Boiler releases water or steam from its safety valve, the steam boiler may be over-pressurising because of scale or a faulty sensor. We inspect the boiler and valve before it is used again.

Sage machines are sensitive to scale and coffee oils because of their fast heaters and fine tolerances. These habits help them last in Dubai.
Set the machine's water hardness to match your water so descale reminders appear at the right time. Dubai tap water sits at the harder end of the scale.
On the Bambino Plus and Barista Touch, wipe the milk jug and the temperature sensor pad after use so auto-texturing reads correctly.
Brush out the burrs and chute about once a month, more often with oily beans, to keep dosing consistent on Impress models.
Change the filter in the tank on schedule; an expired filter lets scale straight into the ThermoJet. Soak a new filter in water for a few minutes before fitting so it doesn't release air bubbles.
If you travel, empty the tank and drip tray. Stagnant water in Dubai heat causes deposits and smells. Run a couple of water-only cycles when you return to flush the system.
